Priyanka BC: Hello, my names Priyanka BC and I go to Redeemer Baptist School. Our project, Just Go, makes public transport more efficient.

My project was a joint with Aisling Mulvaney, who’s in my class. We came about doing this project together because a lot of project in school we do together and we thought it would be more fun and interesting if we did it together.

Me and Aisling, we regularly go on public transport, so we know, first hand, the struggles of having to wait in line to tap on and off, that’s how we go the inspiration of using the RFID for public transport.

Aisling Mulvaney: With our project, it would save a lot of time ‘cause you don’t have to find a card, you can just walk through the detector. You could have the card in your pocket, in your backpack, or just on yourself somewhere and when you walk through the detector the signals from the card would be picked up.

Priyanka BC: Some of the challenges that we faced in doing the project,

the coil wrapped around the barrier. We thought that the signals would be picked up better if we put more coil in, but that wasn’t the case.

The screen wasn’t displaying properly, so we had some struggles improving the coding.

Aisling Mulvaney: When I was a child I always liked to figure different things out and how they worked,

and to this day I still like building things and, I guess, that’s what made me want to go into engineering.

Priyanka BC: I think, science and engineering will impact everyone in the future as it improves.

Aisling Mulvaney: In the future, I think, we will be very dependent on science and engineering, because of the way the lifestyle is now and we will need to keep improving it.

In my spare time I like to play different sports, like netball and soccer. I like reading books and I like playing music.

Priyanka BC: Some of the things that I like doing is playing sports, going out with family and friends to new places and like calm places. Going out to restaurants, trying new things.

Aisling Mulvaney: What I love most about science and engineering, is figuring out how different things work, because they all work in their own way.
