Forest management can either conserve or squander the resource. Australian science is playing a leading role in supporting sustainability in our region. CSIRO is at the forefront in helping Indonesia and other tropical countries manage their forest resources. Better understanding of soil, water and nutrients leads to increased and sustainable production, and allows due care for the environment.

The focus of a new book is on the use of plantation forests.
