CSIRO MEDIA RELEASE 95/89

07 September 1995

CONTAMINATED WATER, KANGAROOS, WOOL 'STYLE' ...
RURAL RESEARCH

The Spring 1995 edition of CSIRO's quarterly RURAL RESEARCH is out today, and features a special report on the agricultural chemicals which may be contaminating Australia's waterways.

A range of sampling techniques has revealed that agricultural pesticides take much longer to break down than was thought. Science writer Kim Jenkins reports that, despite intensive research efforts, we are a long way from understanding the impact of the chemicals that we use on our farms every day.
