CSIRO's Adelaide-based Quality Improvement Group is expecting a boost this week with the arrival of Quality Improvement expert, Dr Ian Saunders.
Dr Saunders has returned to the CSIRO Division of Mathematics and Statistics after seven years, to use his extensive experience in the area of Quality Management to benefit South Australian enterprises. His experience in Quality has spanned work in research, industry consultation and academia. Until recently, Dr Saunders held the position of Queensland Government Professor of Quality Management in the Australian Centre in Strategic Management at Queensland University of Technology.
Dr Saunders has also been an evaluator and evaluation team leader for the Australian Quality Awards (AQA) for the past five years. His recent work in the development of a model for TQM has been used in the ongoing development of the AQA Criteria. His work at CSIRO will draw on his experiences with the AQA, research and consulting. In particular, this experience has highlighted the widespread need for organisations to make more effective use of their data in managing and improving their performance.
Dr Saunders has taken up the position of Project Leader in CSIRO's Quality Improvement Group.
