Media representatives are invited to a conference organised by the CSIRO Division of Human Nutrition. The theme for the conference is RAustralian Food - Asian NutritionS.
The conference will take place at the Adelaide Festival Conference Centre on Tuesday 21 November 1995.
Speakers from the Asia Pacific region will discuss opportunities for the Australian food industry in the Asian marketplace, and the role of innovative, targeted research and development.
According to keynote speaker John Allgrove, Executive General Manager of Austrade (SE Asia), Asia represents a $74 billion market. Australian suppliers currently make up only six percent of this market, which is anticipated to rise to over $200 billion by the year 2000.
The conference includes sections on diet and disease; Asian food perceptions; cultural influences on food; diet and cardiovascular protection; and the export potential of Australian foods.
