Adam Joseph, the past president of the Australian Skeptics Association, will lead the Great Double Helix Fire Walk in a bid to remove the mystery from fire walking.
Over 40 parents, staff and senior members of CSIROUs Double Helix Club will discover that walking across red hot coals is based on sound scientific principles when they undertake the crossing.
"The fire walk is, in a way, a test of your belief in the scientific method to explain the unbelievable," said Adam Joseph. "To be a good scientist you have to look beneath the surface of things around you."
People attending will also be able to have hands on fun with over 30 experiments.
The CSIRO Double Helix Club is open to young people who wish to further their interest in science and have fun at the same time.
