    During the late 1960s - early 1970s, British doctors noticed that African people, particularly those in Uganda who lived on traditional foods which were high in dietary fibre, did not suffer any of the degenerative diseases of western civilisation. These diseases included diabetes, cardiovascular disease, bowel cancer - even constipation.
