CSIRO and Orica strengthen Australian industry

We have partnered with Orica in a landmark $25 million strategic research alliance. Together we are strengthening Australia’s science capability and placing Australian industry at the forefront of international competition.

Orica is a leading publicly owned company based in Australia. With operations in around 50 countries, it is one of an elite group of Australian-based companies with a strong global presence.

We have a long history of collaboration and cooperation with Orica. Our $25 million strategic research alliance captures the capabilities of both organisations and delivers ongoing benefit from newly developed technology. Together we deliver valuable innovation to the mining, manufacturing and chemicals industries, as well as the broader community.

Our alliance focuses on:

  • Long-term R&D capability to benefit Orica and Australia;
  • Strategic R&D over the medium to longer term to implement joint capability and to establish new business initiatives; and
  • Tactical projects over the short to medium-term to benefit current business activities, particularly those related to the mining and infrastructure industry sectors.

Our partnership has successfully progressed since its establishment in 2009, with the alliance project team awarded the CSIRO Medal for Business Excellence for strategic innovation in 2011.
