CeBIT Australia is the leading information and communication technologies (ICT) event for the business market place.
CSIRO is a foundation member of CeBIT Australia's Future Parc and we have exhibited there since its inception in 2002.
On this year's stand
Our focus in 2011 was on technologies that either enable, or are enabled by, widespread broadband connectivity.
The centrepiece of our stand represented our Ngara wireless broadband technology that aims to bring broadband connectivity to people living beyond Australia's planned fibre network. Read more in Broadband to the bush.
CSIRO is a foundation member of CeBIT Australia's Future Parc and we have exhibited there since its inception in 2002.
CSIRO technologies that featured on the stand were:
CSIRO is a founding partner in the Australian Centre for Broadband Innovation (ACBI), alongside the New South Wales Government and National ICT Australia (NICTA). ACBI, a national collaborative research initiative developing, demonstrating and evaluating broadband applications and services, featured prominently at this year's CeBIT. Separate from the CSIRO stand was FutureCare. This exhibit showcased the latest in medical technology and telehealth solutions from industry and research organisations. Technologies developed by CSIRO joint venture the Australian e-Health Research Centre were part of the FutureCare display.
AusInnovate
AusInnovate:NBN Conference was a one-day forum that ran in parallel with CeBIT.
It is a partnership between CeBIT Australia and three major government research agencies:
The AusInnovate:NBN Conference this year took both a ‘big picture’ view of ways of maximising the benefits of Australia’s national broadband network (NBN) and a more detailed look at the practicalities of building such infrastructure.
