Ms Julie Smith leads the Analytical Services Unit located in Adelaide, providing environmental analysis to CSIRO researchers and their collaborators on a fee-for-service basis.
As Manager, she coordinates a team of staff who conduct accurate analysis of soils, waters and plants for nutrients, heavy metals, carbon and soil physical properties.

Ms Smith manages the laboratory providing environmental analysis to CSIRO researchers and their collaborators.
Ms Smith joined CSIRO in 1994 researching heavy metal and pesticide contaminated soils.
In 2002 she become an AusAID Youth Ambassador for Development based in the Kingdom of Tonga.
On her return to Australia in 2004 she worked as an environmental chemist at the Environmental Protection Agency in Victoria for three years before returning to Adelaide.
In 2008 she returned to CSIRO taking over the management of the Analytical Services Unit.
