The CSIRO Healthy Heart Program Book

The CSIRO Healthy Heart Program

The CSIRO Healthy Heart Program, published by CSIRO and Penguin, is designed to look after the health of your whole cardiovascular system, to improve your health and wellbeing as well as to help reduce your risk factors such as blood cholesterol levels, blood pressure and excess weight.

  • 19 September 2008 | Updated 14 October 2011

The focus of the Program is on improving cardiovascular health by keeping our risk factors in check and was developed as part of the CSIRO Preventative Health National Research Flagship.

This book on heart health complements CSIRO’s Total Wellbeing Diet books, which are more focused on weight loss and maintenance.

The book provides:

  • information on heart disease risks and how to avoid them
  • the full Healthy Heart eating plan-12 weeks of full menu plans, including advice for vegetarians
  • a simple and effective exercise program,
  • more than 100 delicious recipes.

By understanding some of the key health issues that can arise in our 40s and beyond, and maintaining a healthy diet and exercise program, we can help stay in control of our health to enjoy life to the full.
