Before you make changes to your family's lifestyle habits it is important to know where you are starting from.

Identifying your starting point helps you set your goals, understand what you need to change, plan the most effective strategies for change, track your progress and know when you have achieved your goal.

One of the simplest ways to work out your starting point is to monitor a habit by keeping a written record.

Each of the chapters in Part 2 of the CSIRO Wellbeing Plan for Kids provides advice about monitoring under the heading ‘Where do I start?’
