CSIRO's international strategy with India aims to identify and encourage collaboration with priority areas in India and promote the exchange of talent and knowledge.

CSIRO has been involved in collaboration with Indian research organisations across a wide range of disciplines including:

  • sustainable agriculture
  • radioastronomy
  • renewable technologies
  • livestock industries
  • water saving measures
  • mineral resources including coal
  • biotechnology
  • health.

CSIRO is taking an active role to further develop and strengthen its ties with key Indian institutions and governing bodies and it does so in close collaboration with the Australian Government.

CSIRO has established links with key Indian organisations including:

  • CSIR India
  • Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB)
  • The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).

A number of CSIRO-India activities are funded with the assistance of the Australia-India Strategic Research Fund administered by the Australian Government Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education [external link].

Developing climate change adaptation strategies for farming communities in Cambodia, Laos, Bangladesh and India

CSIRO is working with farmers in Cambodia, Laos, Bangladesh and India to identify and test locally feasible climate change adaptation options.
