Little Learners

Information for teachers about the Little Learners program for students in Pre-school.

Description

The Little Learners program engages a child's different senses through a variety of activities. Emphasis is placed on seeing, listening, and feeling as the children interact with a range of science toys. The children will also use and develop their motor skills while completing the activities.

Children work through hands-on activities including:

  • animal x-rays
  • finding fossils
  • gyroscopes
  • marble ramps
  • balloon rockets.

Children are introduced to, and explore concepts such as:

  • storing energy and movement
  • forces
  • characteristics of living things
  • evolutionary processes.

Curriculum References

Little Learners will provide an opportunity for students to achieve a range of learning outcomes within the Australian Curriculum. Within this module, students demonstrate evidence of learning from Preschool across the following components:

  • Science As A Human Endeavour - Nature and development of science, use and influence of science.
  • Science Inquiry Skills - questioning and predicting, planning and conducting, processing, analysing data and information, evaluating, communicating.
  • Science Understandings - Physical sciences, biological sciences,where their needs come from.

This workshop is available for students in Pre-school.

Sessions last for 60 minutes and cost A$150.00 per session (GST free). No Lab on Legs fee applies to this program. Schools will be invoiced after the session.
