There are numerous 'icons' in the National Capital, such as the War Memorial, Parliament House and the National Museum. But one icon, CSIRO’s Discovery Centre, draws thousands of children from around the country like moths to a flame, with its mix of hands-on science. (2:54)

Part of Discovery’s attraction lies in its little laboratory, 3D theatre and collection of amenable creatures willing to be patted and poked.
Discovery’s small laboratory allows children (and their grown ups) to undertake small experiments and examine the every day through high powered microscopes.
Discovery is also a working science centre, so visitors can see exactly what scientists do every day.
