Metabolic Efficiency 2010 Symposium
Start: 23 September 2010 9:00am
End: 24 September 2010 4:00pm
Location
CSIRO Materials Science and Engineering – Parkville
343 Royal Parade
Parkville VIC 3052
AustraliaGeneral Information
The aims of this symposium are to better understand and exploit a fundamental concept of life – the regulation of energy acquisition, storage and use.
The cross-species approach we are encouraging will provide unique insights into the core principles of metabolic regulation that impact many human diseases as well as sustainability of our food supply.
The aims of this symposium are to better understand and exploit a fundamental concept of life – the regulation of energy acquisition, storage and use.
The Symposium will be structured around several themes:
- the concept of metabolic efficiency
- molecular regulation
- the role of mitochondria
- impact of epigenetic factors
- contribution of the gut microbiome
- evolutionary conservation
- inflamation and metabolism
- systems biology.
Presentations will also be selected from submitted abstracts.
Awards will be presented for the best student poster.

Abstract submission
Participants are invited to submit abstracts which will be considered for oral or poster presentations.
Please indicate your preference. The organisers of the Symposium will select some abstracts for oral presentation and accordingly notify speakers two weeks before the start of the Symposium.
All abstracts, including those selected for oral presentations should be presented as posters at the Symposium. The closing date for submission of abstracts is 23 August 2010.
