Luminescence Database

Using the Luminescence Database

Selecting the desired material

To search for the luminescence peaks for a particular material, you may either select the material by name or by chemical formula using the material name and chemical formula drop-down lists (see below). Alternatively, you may select the material by name using the alphabetic list of materials provided beneath the search box.

Selecting the desired emitter

Once you have selected the material, you may then select the desired luminescence emitter from the emitter drop-down list (see below) and click search to show the luminescence lines/bands in the database for the selected material and emitter. If you select the 'Show all' option in the emitter drop-down list, all luminescence lines for the selected material will be provided.

Search results

After you click on the search button, you will be passed through to the results page, which should resemble something like that shown below.

Notes on the Lines/Bands column

  • If the entry is given in bold text, the authors deemed it to be a 'major' emission line.
  • If the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the emission peak was provided by the authors, it will be listed in parentheses after the line position.
  • If the emission is a band rather than a singular distinct peak, the band start/end positions will be listed, separated by a hyphen (e.g. "442-517nm").

Notes on the Spectrum column

If spectral data is available for a given result, image and/or text links will be provided in the spectrum column. Images of plotted spectra are typically provided in the Portable Network Graphics (PNG) format, and text data is provided either in Comma Separated Value (CSV) format, or in the native text format of the acquisition system (e.g. space delimited text, etc).

Conducting a new search

To conduct a new search, you may either click on the back button in your web browser, or on the new search button at the top-right of the results page.
