CSIRO to offer commercialisation opportunities at CeBIT Australia

Reference: 07/70

CSIRO will be encouraging potential commercial partners at this year’s CeBIT Australia event.

  • 26 April 2007

Director of Commercialisation for the CSIRO ICT Centre, Dr Gautam Tendulkar, says that the CSIRO stand will feature a “wall of opportunities” for working with CSIRO.

”We will be putting up clear statements about opportunities that exist and how people can work with us,” Dr Tendulkar says. “It may be the chance to license some CSIRO Intellectual Property, or to participate in a commercialisation venture for CSIRO technology, or even to participate in a collaborative research project.”

The opportunities will be drawn from activities in the ICT Centre’s four research laboratories and two joint ventures, and from across CSIRO.

“From our Autonomous Systems Laboratory, we have opportunities involving mining robotics and autonomous aircraft,” Dr Tendulkar says.

“From Networking Technologies, there are a range of new technologies for eService delivery and secure transactions including our Virtual Private Extranet Service and Trust Extension Device.

Director of Commercialisation for the CSIRO ICT Centre, Dr Gautam Tendulkar, says that the CSIRO stand will feature a “wall of opportunities” for working with CSIRO.

“From Wireless Technologies, our big opportunity is in 10 Gigabit per second wireless communications, but there are also technologies for localisation and mine communications.

“In Information Engineering, we’ll be inviting partners for our online expert question answerer, My Instant Expert.

“From the eHealth Research Centre, we’ll have medical imaging technologies and more, and from the new Tasmanian ICT Centre a general call for SME and other partners to get involved in our emerging research agenda in Tasmania,” he says.

“We’ll also be announcing an exciting new way for MBA and technology postgraduate students to get involved in our research programs.

“All in all, it is a smorgasbord of opportunity based on proven Information and Communication Technologies from CSIRO.”

CeBIT Australia runs from 1-3 May, 2007 at Darling Harbour, Sydney. CSIRO’s stand is K30 in future parc.
