Imagine being able to consult your own personal health monitor to identify your current exposure to pollutants which could be harmful for respiratory ailments such as asthma.

Personal health forecasting systems such as these may not be too far away, due to a new project now being undertaken by the Preventative Health Flagship.

Flagship researchers based at CSIRO Atmospheric Research are working on the development of a health forecasting system which produces daily risk forecasts for Australians suffering diseases such as asthma and other respiratory ailments affected by environmental conditions.

Project Leader Dr Bill Physick says initial partners in the research include the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health (NCEPH), the Environment Protection Authority Victoria and the Environment Protection Agency of Queensland.
