As a Flagship focussed on improving the health and well-being of Australians through prevention and early detection of chronic disease, our three days of research discussions covered many disciplines and a huge range of topics.

Flagship welcomes cancer expert as Flagship Fellow

Leading cancer expert, Professor Graeme Young, has been appointed as a Flagship Fellow to help the Preventative Health National Research Flagship in its fight against one of Australia’s biggest killers, colorectal (bowel) cancer. Read more.

National SOLVE Roadshow

The Preventative Health Flagship recently joined a national roadshow promoting CSIRO innovation to more than 600 of Australia’s senior business leaders.

The CSIRO National Industry Roadshow previewed new technologies for the health, food, manufacturing, ICT, transport, energy, minerals, oil and gas and infrastructure sectors though a series of hospitality events in Australian capital city throughout August and September.

Prospecting for bioactives

Armed with their high-tech prospecting tools, Australian scientists are beginning to discover just how healthy dairy products really are.  Researchers from Australia’s Preventative Health Flagship are looking beyond healthy bones and teeth in the search for components of dairy foods that one day may be used to fight some of Australia’s most common and fatal diseases. Read more.

CSIRO gives a gift which could save lives

1600 residents of Adelaide’s southern and hills suburbs have received a special gift from the CSIRO, one which may save their lives.

But it’s not a gift they might expect, it’s a free kit for screening colorectal (bowel) cancer which they were asked to use at home and post back to a screening service for analysis. Read more.
