Dr Richard Head is one of five CSIRO representatives presenting at the ILSI Nutrigenomics Conference to be held in Singapore December 7th to 9th.

The integration of genomic technologies with nutrition knowledge is the focus of the International Life Sciences Institute’s (ILSI) first International Conference on Nutrigenomics – Opportunities in Asia.

CSIRO is a major collaborator for the conference, which will be held in Singapore from December 7-9, 2005.

Five speakers from CSIRO will join an international line-up of presentations which will focus on ethnic diversity and genetic adaption through human migration and dietary patterns.

The conference will also explore the potential role, application and impact of nutrigenomics in addressing public health issues of Asia’s populations.

Plenary presentations will discuss new perspectives on genes, nutrients and health, nutritional influences on molecular epidemiology and diseases, nutrient-gene interactions in normal and disease states, the use and impact of genomics in the food supply, individual population implications and the future of nutrigenomics in Asia.

Symposia will also be conducted on nutrigenomics and functional food science and using genomic technologies in nutrition research, as well as a workshop on intellectual property in new product development.

A pre-conference seminar will cover the fundamentals of nutrigenomics on December 6,

The conference is supported by CSIRO’s Preventative Health and Food Futures Flagships.

Conference Highlights include:

  • New perspectives on genes, nutrients and health
    Nutrition and genomic events
