Dr Prosser joins us from CSIRO Land and Water, where he managed the Water Resources Theme, which looked at innovative methods to increase Australia's water productivity in the face of decreasing availability of surface and groundwater.

With a PhD in geomorphology from the Australian National University, Dr Prosser brings his considerable experience in catchment hydrology and science for regional catchment management to the role.

Dr Prosser joined CSIRO in 1995, working variously as Project Leader for the National Riparian Zone Project: Sediment Nutrients and Erosion, and as senior scientist on CRC for Catchment Hydrology, Murray-Darling Basin Commission, Meat and Livestock Australia, and Sugar Research and Development Corporation projects.

He served as manager of Land and Water Australia's River R&D programs (2003-2004), and was also Project Leader for the National Land and Water Resources Audit project, leading the initial scientific development of the SedNet model for regional sediment and nutrient transport.

Ian is based at CSIRO's Black Mountain laboratories and is contactable on 02 6246 5646 Ian.Prosser@csiro.au.
