Message from the Director

It is with a great sense of gratitude, pride and satisfaction that I pen my final Director's e-newsletter Update – as Friday 13 April 2007 is my last day at the helm of the Oceans Flagship before taking on different adventures and challenges. For those of you who are not aware, I have accepted a tremendous opportunity to join the CSIRO executive team and will be leading the strategic change programs. Read more

Flagship Award Winning Research

  • Fellowship to Study climate change impacts
    The Wealth from Oceans National Research Flagship scientist, Dr Tom Okey, has been awarded a three-year, $150,000 Pew Fellowship in Marine Conservation in support of his research into how climate change affects marine ecosystems.
     
  • Gary Meyers receives AMOS medal
    Dr Gary Meyers was honoured recently at the annual Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (AMOS) conference in Adelaide where he received the prestigious AMOS medal.
     
  • Top scientists appointed as CSIRO Fellows
    Seven of CSIRO's outstanding scientists were appointed as CSIRO Fellows in a ceremony at CSIRO's Discovery Centre in Canberra in February.
     
  • Oceans Flagship awarded for offshore research
    CSIRO recently awarded one of its highest honours to its offshore oil and gas research team, the One-CSIRO Award.
     
  • Flagship awards ocean research leadership
    The Wealth from Oceans Flagship has honoured two of its most outstanding members - Dr Mayela Rivero and Dr John Parslow - for their leadership and dedication to furthering the Flagship's research outcomes.
