The Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA) is the peak national body representing Australia's oil and gas exploration and production industry.

APPEA was established in 1959 to represent the collective interests of Australia's upstream oil and gas industry, both offshore and onshore.

As such, it is regarded as the voice of the industry, nationally and internationally.

APPEA's mission is to achieve a legislative, administrative, economic and social framework that efficiently and effectively facilitates safe, environmentally responsible, socially responsible and profitable oil and gas exploration, development and production.

APPEA has 60 full member companies, representing about 95 percent of oil and gas production in Australia, and 100 associate member companies that provide a range of goods and services to the industry.

Responsibility for the management of APPEA is vested in a Council of Directors. APPEA's underlying committee structure enables the leveraging of member company expertise in examining and developing robust policy positions on issues that affect the industry as a whole. This expertise is complemented by the work of a professional secretariat based in the nation's capital, Canberra, and an office in Perth, Western Australia.

The Chairman of the APPEA Council is Mr Colin Beckett, the General Manager Greater Gorgon (Chevron Australia), and APPEA's Chief Executive is Ms Belinda Robinson.

Ms Robinson is a member of the Wealth from Oceans Flagship Advisory Committee. In this role Ms Robinson provides strategic input to the Flagship in relation to the needs and emerging trends in the oil and gas industry, both for Australia and internationally.
