It’s been a busy few months for the
Energy Transformed Flagship since our last newsletter.
We have wrapped up the Future Fuels Forum (FFF) with the
successful release of the report, Fuel for thought, launched
the Intelligent Grid Cluster and the post-combustion capture pilot
plant in China was opened for business before the first gold medal
was won at the Olympic Games.

Fuels Forum report launch
After nine months of collaboration between CSIRO, industry,
government and community, the Future Fuels Forum (FFF)
culminated in July with the release of the report, Fuel for
thought – The future of transport fuels: challenges and
opportunities.

Intelligent
grid for Australia's future power
supply
An advanced electricity network which utilises distributed
energy resources to deliver low emissions, sustainable
electricity is the vision of the Intelligent Grid (iGrid)
Cluster, which was launched in August by Senator the Honorable
Kim Carr, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and

Carbon
capture milestone for CSIRO in China
CSIRO and its Chinese partners have officially launched a
post-combustion capture (PCC) pilot plant in Beijing that strips
carbon dioxide from power station flue gases in an effort to
stem climate change. Read more
Changing
of the guard for Flagship transport research
After more than three years as the Energy Transformed
Flagship’s (ETF) Theme Leader for Low Emissions Transport,
David Lamb has recently retired. Read more

grass roots approach to climate change
The Energy Transformed Flagship recently launched an initiative
called Energymark in the city of Newcastle, New South Wales that
provides local residents with an opportunity to lead the nation
in ways to inform and change people’s behaviour regarding
climate change. Read more
Carbon
capture and storage seminar
CSIRO and the CRC for Greenhouse Gas Technologies (CO2CRC)
hosted a recent seminar on the latest research and technology
underpinning carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS). The
seminar, held at the Australian Resources Research Centre in
Perth, was officially opened by the Western Australian Minister
for Energy; Resources; Industry and Enterprise, The Hon. Francis
