Industry has their say on Integrated Urban Water Management

The beautiful mountain town of Boulder, Colorado, was host to a workshop on Integrated Urban Water Management Approaches run by WFHC staff in June. With the Rocky Mountains serving as a backdrop to proceedings, our team, led by Shiroma Maheepala and Jane Blackmore, ran two days of talks to improve the useability of the Integrated Urban Water Management (IUWM) manual currently being developed as a joint project between CSIRO and Awwa Research Foundation.

It gave water industry experts from Australia and the US the chance to compare success stories and challenges, and our researchers a wealth of material to use in shaping the IUWM manual. IUWM aims to provide an approach for water utilities to plan and manage their urban water systems to minimise their impact on the natural environment, and to maximise their contribution to economic vitality and community health.
