Following the announcement of a new CSIRO-owned spin-out company called Intalysis, bulk materials handlers the world over are set to reap huge rewards.
Bulk materials handlers the world over are set to reap huge rewards following the announcement of a new CSIRO-owned spin-out company called Intalysis.
The company has hit the ground running with multiple orders from industry leader BHP Billiton and other resource companies. It has also secured local and international distributors including Australian-based Control Systems Technology and Praxis Minas in Brazil.

Intalysis was spun out to commercialise the Low Frequency Microwave (LFM) Moisture Analyser – an on-line analysis instrument that delivers continuous, accurate measurements of moisture in the most demanding bulk materials handling applications.
Originally developed by the On-line Analysis and Control team at CSIRO Minerals, the LFM Analyser is currently being used by operators in the iron ore and coal industries to improve their material handling and environmental performance. The success of the innovative analysers could soon see the systems also used in a wide range of seemingly unrelated applications. These range from the manufacture of wood chips and particle board to the control of moisture in the bulk grain and food industry.
Intalysis Managing Director, Graeme McGown, explained, 'The LFM Moisture Analyser is already playing an important role in the mining industry. Yet the functionality of the technology ensures it is relevant for a broad range of markets where moisture control is an issue.'
According to Mr McGown, Intalysis offers a complete range of support services including comprehensive calibration, monitoring and data backup services.
'The LFM Moisture Analyser is the culmination of over 20 years’ work in moisture analysis technology,' said Mr McGown. 'The result is an outstanding product that is recognised throughout the world for its accuracy and ease of use.'
Initially, Intalysis is a wholly-owned CSIRO company.
