Barwon-Darling region: CSIRO Murray-Darling Basin Sustainable Yields Project

The Barwon-Darling region is one of a series of 18 regions being assessed as part of the CSIRO Murray-Darling Basin Sustainable Yields Project.

Background

The Barwon-Darling region is in north-western New South Wales and represents 13 per cent of the total area of the Murray-Darling Basin (MDB).

The region has a population of around 50 000 people concentrated in the centres of Collarenebri, Walgett, Brewarrina, Bourke, Cobar and Wilcannia.
