A school visit to CSIRO's Discovery Centre in Canberra is unique and engaging with its modern science laboratories to view, interactive exhibits, hands-on science activities and education programs that encourage students to question, value ideas and seek explanations.
Opening hours
The Discovery Centre is open for school visits from 8.30 am - 9.30 pm every Sunday to Friday except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Good Friday (closed Saturdays).
Entry fees
Entry fees for the Discovery Centre:
Teachers and accompanying adults are free of charge.
All programs include a visit to the virtual reality 3D show and hands-on activities in the Optuslab.

Discovering science in society
The Discovering science in society program:
Discovering science in society is a popular education program for upper primary and secondary students. In this program, students investigate and evaluate current science research before voting for the project they consider of greatest value to society and most worthy of further research funding, as well as experiencing the Optuslab and our 3D theatre.
Hands On/Minds On
This program:
Hands On/Minds On includes a live creatures talk, 3D movie, Optuslab as well as free time to explore the exhibition.
