Fulbright CSIRO Postgraduate Scholarship

The Fulbright Scholarship program is the largest and one of the most prestigious educational scholarship programs in the world.

The Fulbright Scholarship

The Fulbright Scholarship program is the largest and one of the most prestigious educational scholarship programs in the world.

The Australian Program was established in 1949 through the first treaty ever signed between Australia and the USA, and it is co-chaired by the Australian Prime Minister and USA Ambassador to Australia.

Valued at up to A$34 000 this new scholarship supports an American citizen to undertake 8-12 months postgraduate research in Australia working on a project within the CSIRO National Research Flagships program.

The CSIRO National Research Flagships focus on addressing major national challenges and opportunities through long term, multidisciplinary, collaborative research with an emphasis on the widespread adoption of research outcomes.

The National Research Flagships program is one of the largest scientific research endeavours ever undertaken in Australia. There are 10 National Research Flagships open to applicants.

One scholarship will be offered every year to a student in an American doctorate program whose proposed project is relevant to the research and goals of one or more of the National Research Flagships.

The recipient will have the opportunity to gain international experience and build collaborations with Australian scientists as part of their postgraduate studies.

The National Research Flagships program is one of the largest scientific research endeavours ever undertaken in Australia.

As a result of the experience, Fulbright Scholars often end up with an international marker for their doctorate and international joint publications, forming a basis for long term ongoing international research collaborations and exchange between their USA university and CSIRO.

About CSIRO

CSIRO has over 6 000 staff working on outcome-focused scientific research to benefit industries, communities and the environment. The USA has long been CSIRO's most important international partner.

CSIRO is proud to be associated with the Fulbright Program and to sponsor the Fulbright CSIRO Postgraduate Scholarship.
