Moonie region: CSIRO Murray-Darling Basin Sustainable Yields Project

The Moonie region is one of a series of 18 regions being assessed as part of the CSIRO Murray-Darling Basin Sustainable Yields Project.

Background

The Moonie region is largely in south-western Queensland east of St George and represents 1.4 per cent of the total area of the Murray-Darling Basin (MDB).

The region has a number of small settlements including Thallon and Nindigully but no major towns. The region is based around the Moonie River.
