Namoi region: CSIRO Murray-Darling Basin Sustainable Yields Project

The Namoi region is one of a series of 18 regions being assessed as part of the CSIRO Murray-Darling Basin Sustainable Yields Project.

Background

The Namoi region is in northern New South Wales and represents 3.8 per cent of the total area of the Murray-Darling Basin (MDB) region.

The region's population of around 88 000 people are concentrated in the major centres of:

  • Tamworth
  • Gunnedah
  • Boggabri
  • Narrabri
  • Wee Waa.
