Flagship Collaboration Fund projects provide a means to engage outside expertise to help achieve a particular flagship objective and to enhance collaboration with the university sector.
About Flagship projects
The Flagship Collaboration Fund supports specific research projects which have outcomes and deliverables relevant to a Flagship objective.
Flagship projects include:
-
universities and PFRA (Australian and international) as eligible collaborators
-
Collaboration funding of A$100 000 per year for up to two years
-
co-investment from partners.
Solicited and unsolicited projects
Flagship projects can be either solicited or unsolicited.
Unsolicited projects are those proposed by the research provider on its own initiative. Unsolicited project applications can be submitted at any time but applicants must first contact the relevant Flagship to discuss their proposed project.
Many projects will stem from ideas generated from within the Flagships because there is a specific need to engage outside expertise to help achieve a particular Flagship objective, these are called solicited projects.
This expertise may come in the form of:
-
intellectual capital, comprising people and intellectual property
-
physical capital and infrastructure, including facilities and equipment.
Applications for solicited projects will be advertised as required.
How to apply
Before submitting an application, applicants who are applying for funding for projects should:
-
-
discuss your proposed project application with the nominated Flagship contact before submitting an application
- apply using the Flagship project application form.
Assessment process
The task of assessing Flagship projects is the responsibility of the relevant Flagship Director, who will take advice (including external advice) on the proposals.
Funding agreements
CSIRO has prepared and will provide a precedent contract to parties whose proposals have been accepted.
This precedent contract has been refined in consultation with universities and is now at a point where changes should only be necessary for reasons specific to a project.
The use of a standard project agreement will ensure projects can commence quickly and avoid lengthy contractual negotiations.
