Secondments
CSIRO invites research scientists, engineers and people from other research organisations and institutions to work within our Research Divisions on secondment for an agreed time. This allows the exchange of knowledge and ideas within scientific communities.
CSIRO also offers its people the opportunity to broaden their experience by working across organisational boundaries within Flagship Programs, Research Divisions and with external organisations.
Guest workers
Research Divisions may invite scientists or other leading workers from other scientific institutions or universities to visit CSIRO as guest workers for a short time.
Guest workers may be paid a stipend and/or contributions towards their travel and living costs.
Promote the exchange of knowledge and ideas within scientific communities
Guest workers are not employed by CSIRO, but are able to visit and work with CSIRO scientists.
How to apply
If you see an advertised position that relates to your research area and are interested in a secondment, you should discuss this with the relevant contact officer for the position.
Alternatively, you may wish to discuss the opportunity of a secondment, or a visit as a guest worker, with one of our research scientists within the Division that relates to your area of interest.
