Dr Greg Rebetzke leads a CSIRO Plant Industry team involved in physiological and molecular wheat breeding.

Dr Greg Rebetzke uses modern statistical and genetic methods in germplasm development to improve wheat productivity under drought and nitrogen limitation.
He leads a team of plant and crop physiologists, geneticists and breeders aiming to identify and select traits that are important in improving wheat adaptation to Australian environments.
Genetic gain is being achieved through phenotypic and molecular marker-assisted selection.
Dr Rebetzke's research in drought is complemented by research activities aimed at understanding nitrogen uptake and remobilisation into grain, and efforts toward genetic improvement in wheat’s ability to compete with weeds.
Dr Rebetzke has been awarded a:
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Horticulture with Honours from Queensland Agricultural University, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
- Master of Agricultural Science, from the University of Queensland, Brisbane
- Doctor of Philosophy from North Carolina State University, USA.
