Current activities

Dr Elisabeth Bui is currently leading research in modelling and mapping soil thickness and the impact of erosion on topsoil loss.

Her research topics of special interest have included:

• modelling and digitally mapping of soils and their characteristic properties
• integrating data for multi-objective decision-making in environmental management
• applications of spatiotemporal data mining techniques.

Dr Elisabeth Bui is an environmental scientist with broad research interests and international field experience.

She has experience working in Australia, the USA, Niger, and Singapore.

Her work has revolved around integrated database development for natural resources management and the application of spatial analysis and machine learning techniques for:

• predictive soil mapping
• salinity and erosion risk assessment
• biogeography
• multi-objective decision-making
• investment prioritisation for landscape rehabilitation.

Academic qualifications

Dr Bui has been awarded a:

• Master of Science from Cornell University, New York, USA, 1980
• Doctor of Philosophy from Texas A&M University, Texas, USA, 1986.

Achievements

Dr Bui is the author of 28 journal articles, nine reports, seven book chapters and 28 conference papers.
