Dr Greg Constable is a leader in cotton research, investigating plant breeding, genetically modified cotton varieties, higher yield management packages, improved sustainability and reducing insecticide use.

Background
Dr Constable was a NSW Department of Agriculture crop scientists up to 1991 when he joined CSIRO Plant Industry's cotton breeding team at Narrabri.
Dr Constable's specific research interests include cotton breeding, agronomy and crop management systems.
He has specialised in breeding cotton for full season cropping systems and has also initiated breeding for improved fibre quality.
CSIRO has been successful in combining the characteristics of elite cotton germplasm with transgenic insect and herbicide resistance traits to transform Australian cotton as a more sustinable industry.
He was the first Director of the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Sustainable Cotton Production, through the planning phase in 1992, its successful establishment in 1993, and up to its renewal in 1999 as the Australian Cotton CRC.
