Ms Maree O’Sullivan is a biometrician who specialises in statistical bioinformatics for health and agricultural applications.

Current Activities
Ms Maree O’Sullivan has been working in the bioinformatics area for the past two years. She helps develop and implement new statistical methods for analysing microarray data.
Recent projects she has been involved in include:
- collaborating with medical researchers investigating intra-cranial brain tumours
- working with marine scientists investigating amoebic gill disease in the salmon industry.
Background
Ms O’Sullivan has been working as a consultant statistician in CSIRO for over 15 years.
She has a wide range of experience in areas as diverse:
- sensory evaluation
- water quality monitoring
- production process improvement
- differential gene expression analysis.
Academic qualifications
Ms O’Sullivan holds a Bachelor of Science in Statistics awarded by Macquarie University, Sydney, NSW in 1995.
She is currently studying toward a Master of Applied Statistics at Macquarie University.
Achievements
Ms O’Sullivan was awarded the SSAI Award for Excellence in Postgraduate Reseach by the Statistical Society fo Australia Inc in 2005.
In 2004 she was part of the High Power Supercapacitor team who won the CSIRO Medal for Research Achievement.
