Current activities

Mr Mark Raven's research interests include:

• development and application of laboratory and synchrotron based X-ray (diffraction, fluorescence and absorption) techniques for mineralogical and geochemical analysis
• acid sulfate soil mineralogical processes
• criminal and environmental forensics.

Background

Mr Raven is a Senior Research Projects Officer within CSIRO Land and Water's Advanced Analytical Techniques in Biogeochemistry research stream. The research stream is part of the Centre for Environmental Contaminants Research.

Academic qualifications

Mr Raven was awarded a Master of Applied Science (Physics) from the Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia, in 1989.

Achievements

Mr Raven is the author of 18 journal articles, 15 reports, 2 book chapters and over 60 conference papers.

Professional activities

Mr Raven is a member of the:

• International Centre for Diffraction Data (ICDD), a non-profit organisation committed to improving the quality and quantity of X-ray diffraction data
• Treasurer, Australian Clay Minerals Society.
