CSIRO’s Cotton Research Unit has extensive laboratory, glasshouse and field sites available for cotton research.
The Unit was established in 1972 when CSIRO cotton scientists previously based in Kununurra, in Western Australia, Canberra, in the Australian Capital Territory, and Griffith, in New South Wales, teamed up and moved to Narrabri in the heart of the cotton growing industry in the north-west of New South Wales.

The facility is 25 kilometres west of Narrabri, NSW, on the Wee Waa Road, north-west of Tamworth in northern New South Wales.
The Technology Resource Centre (TRC) of the Cotton CRC is also located at the Australian Cotton Research Institute.
The TRC is open to the public.
