Evaluation copy

A demonstration copy of SiroFire is available for evaluation purposes only. If you agree to the conditions as stated below, you can download a copy of the software by reading the instructions below. Instructions for installing the software are also given below.

Conditions of use

The copy of SiroFire - The CSIRO Bushfire Spread Simulator Version 2.5a available on this web site is fully functioning with a sample geographic database. It is for evaluation purposes only. It must not be used for any other purpose without the written consent of CSIRO.

Whilst every care has been taken in compiling this software no assurances are given that is free from error or omission.

The CSIRO and the authors make no expressed or implied warranty or representation of the merchantable quality or fitness for purpose of the software and disclaim all liability for the consequences of anything done or omitted to be done by any person in reliance upon the software.

Use of the software is at the user's risk and discretion and CSIRO will not be liable for any loss, damage, costs or injury including consequential, incidental or financial loss arising out of use of the software.

Instructions

Accurate prediction of probable fire spread is vital to the success of fire suppression and protection of lives and property.

Downloading a copy for evaluation

To download a copy of SiroFire version 2.5a for evaluation purposes, click the download link above this text. The file is approximately 965K. Save the file to a temporary directory.

Installing the software

The file that is downloaded is a self-extracting archive of the installation disk. Run the file po7x.exe and a number of files will then be extracted. Run the file INSTALL.EXE and follow the instructions to install SiroFire.

This application is a DOS protected mode-based program, not a Windows® program, but it will run successfully under Windows®95 and Windows®NT in a DOS box. For Windows®2000 users, click no when the installation program asks whether it should update the config.sys file.

A brief users guide (README.TXT) is included in the installation files to get you started.
