Holden CommodoreThis latest Holden commodore hugs the curves, powers through the countryside, and quickly responds to the demands of city traffic. It has elegance, style, and if that's not enough praise, here's some more.

You'll get twice as many kilometres to the litre, but significantly the pollution will go down by much more than a factor of two.

So you don't just get a smooth ride, you save the environment. And that's because it's a hybrid. It runs on petrol and electricity stored in super capacitors and batteries. Therefore burning much less fossil fuel. It's certainly not the first hybrid car in the world, but it is different in many ways.

The difference with this particular hybrid vehicle is that was designed to be an affordable option in other words it was designed to make the incremental price of producing it as compared to a standard car less then most the others around the world.

But if you're not in the market for a new car, there could be another option, with the possible development of a bolt-on engine, similar to an LPG engine, making it far more affordable.

This new, efficient, environmentally friendly Ecommodore is the result of a liaison between Australia's own car Holden and Australia's own scientists at CSIRO.

They wanted to be involved with CSIRO to learn about some of the pluses and minuses of new technology. I think they got that out of it and I think they are very happy with the results of that.
