CSIRO Livestock Industries PhD program

CSIRO Livestock Industries has a strong and vibrant postgraduate student training program and offers PhD studentships (scholarships).

There are currently around 70 doctoral and masters students within CSIRO Livestock Industries – either on CSIRO studentships or supervised by CSIRO researchers.

Locations

Research at CSIRO Livestock Industries is conducted at five sites in four Australian States:

  • JM Rendel Laboratory, Rockhampton, Queensland
  • Queensland Bioscience Precinct, Brisbane, Queensland
  • FD McMaster Laboratory, Armidale, New South Wales
  • Australian Animal Health Laboratory, Geelong, Victoria
  • Centre for Environment and Life Sciences, Perth, Western Australia.
    There are currently around 70 doctoral and masters students within CSIRO Livestock Industries.

PhD scholarships

Each year CSIRO Livestock Industries offers a number of studentships to commence in January.

Unfortunately, there are no projects offered in Perth and Rockhampton for 2010.

Eligible applicants must be Australian citizens or residents, and should be completing or have completed an honours science degree (or equivalent in agricultural or veterinary sciences or related disciplines).

The successful candidates will be chosen on academic merit and will be able to choose a project from a number of specific research areas.

Studentships will be valued at up to A$30 000 per annum and are tenable for three years. Successful candidates will be required to enrol for a doctorate at an appropriate tertiary institution in Australia.
