This article provides an overview of a long-term conservation cropping experiment in Harden, New South Wales, and its effect on wheat yield in this high rainfall region.
This project followed on from research in the late 1970s which showed the environmental value of conservation cropping.
The Harden experiments maintained a mean wheat yield of 4.8t/ha for the highest yielding treatment, giving confidence that the results are relevant to productive cropping systems.
