CSIRO's contribution to Garnaut Climate Change Review

CSIRO experts are available for media interviews to provide information about the science in the Garnaut Climate Change Review Draft Report.

CSIRO experts are available for media interviews to provide information about the science in the Garnaut Climate Change Review Draft Report.

The report examines the impacts of climate change on the Australian economy, and recommends medium to long-term policies and policy frameworks to improve the prospects for sustainable prosperity.

CSIRO contributed to the Garnaut Report in three key ways:

  • Emissions and modelling, including climate model uncertainties, carbon cycle dynamics, risk management, economic modelling, carbon trading, climate scenarios, agricultural and other impacts, and electricity generation technology costs.
  • Submission of issues papers, including Land use - Agriculture and Forestry; Climate Change - What is the science telling us? Is there a need for new emissions; Research and Development?: Low Emissions Energy Technologies; Research and Development: Low Emissions Energy Technologies; Transport, planning and the built environment; Emissions Trading. These papers are available at Garnaut Climate Change Review - reports, papers and specialist [external link].
  • Participation in workshops, presentations at Garnaut Report workshops, and reviewing publications and chapters in the report.
