This 48-page report provides a summary of literature reviews, stakeholder consultations, workshops and evaluation results gathered for the larger study undertaken entitled 'Water resources of the Howard River
region, Northern Territory: A report on the social and cultural values and a
stakeholder assessment of water use scenarios'.
This section of the larger project sought to trial social research and socio-economic decision support tools that can help explore and settle trade-offs between competing outcomes, an area about which little is said in the Water Act 1992 (NT).
A combination of methods was used to build understanding of the values, uses and issues for the Howard River catchment, explore the conflicts and potential trade-offs, and evaluate several scenarios for the future.
This report is primarily for the participants of the workshops and for stakeholders who were contacted throughout the workshop process. It is not a complete report of the project and does not cover a substantial amount of the findings from the literature reviews and stakeholder consultations. The full report is available for download (see below).
