OPTIM™ Fine and OPTIM™ Max

Download and read this information sheet to discover how CSIRO changed the structure of wool to make OPTIM™. (2 pages)

A CSIRO research team transformed Australian Merino wool by stretching and setting the fibres to create new fibres, OPTIM™ Fine and OPTIM™ Max, which have a silk-like touch, distinctive sheen and lustre, yet retain the best properties of wool.

This document details how the wool was stretched 40 per cent making each fibre 3 to 3.5 micrometers finer. The reduced micron was then permanently set in this finer softer form to make Optim™ Fine.
