This study provides an independent analysis of the impacts of the Government’s carbon price on the cost of living for Australian households.
The main goals of the report are to:
- provide an independent analysis of the economic impacts of the introduction of a carbon price
- outline the methods and assumptions used in the analysis
- bring together estimates of price impacts and announced government assistance to households
- put the projected impacts into historical context, so that readers are able to better evaluate their significance.
This report forms part of project that was funded through a research grant from the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency to The Climate Institute. It was overseen by an Advisory Committee including:
- The Climate Institute
- the Department of Treasury
- the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency
- the Australian Council of Social Service
- consumer advocate CHOICE.
