CSIRO is applying its expertise in facilitating the conservation, recycling and reuse of water in the world’s driest inhabited continent.
Our capability
The Water Reuse group has the scientific capability to enable indirect water reuse for drinking and other uses, to meet acute urban water shortfalls, and assess impacts and improve design of water-sensitive ecosystems in urban environments.
The group comprises 16 research staff.
Skills and expertise
The Water Reuse group has the scientific capability to assess impacts and improve design of water-sensitive ecosystems in urban environments
The group's skills and expertise include:
-
investigation and demonstration of waste water reuse methods through managed aquifer recharge and aquifer storage and recovery
-
chemical and microbial changes in water quality during recycling of stormwater and effluent combined with risk assessment
-
assessment techniques concerning chemical and water fluxes in catchments in response to urbanisation.
Our assets
The group's assets include instrumented field sites in a number of locations around Australia, including the Floreat Infiltration Gallery.
