We are helping Australia’s exploration, mining and minerals processing industries to remain sustainable and competitive in a global environment.

CSIRO’s high-temperature processing team applies its expertise and extensive pilot-plant facilities to improve the treatment of ores and metallurgical and industrial wastes.

Mr Justen Bremmell pours molten slag and alloy from CSIRO's bath smelting facility. Red hot molten slag material pours down a ramp out of the furnace and sparks fly. Mr Bremmell is protected by a full face visor and hard hat, and leather jacket gloves and apron.

CSIRO is working with industry to develop and improve geological models, to be used in the exploration of minerals and ores.

We work with minerals processing companies to get more from their materials, improve their processes, and integrate today’s most advanced technologies.
